CBP Workshops
Workshops are offered to Scholars, sometimes outside of the classroom, to reinforce career exploration and preparation. The skills learned in workshops prepare students for life, regardless of job or career. Scholars participate in varied workshops depending on their year in the CBP, examples include:
Sophomore: Professional Etiquette and Resume I
Junior: Interview Skills and Resume II
Senior: Evaluating Job Offers and Conducting Business Meetings
Workshop Descriptions:
Professional Etiquette: Etiquette should be thought of as a “people skill” that sends a clear indication of one's respect and courtesy. Professional and personal etiquette builds leadership skills, earns respect and furthers careers. Proper professional etiquette is noticed and appreciated, while a lack of it is even more noticeable. While there is little or no risk in being “too courteous,” there can be considerable risk to career and relationships from a lack of courtesy and appropriate etiquette. Scholars learn conversation starters, as well as proper reception and dinner etiquette.
Resume I & II: Scholars work with Hanover alumni and the Career Center staff to begin evaluating critical components of effective resumes and how to identify good co-curricular experiences that can assist in building various leadership and organizational skills.
Interview Skills: Hanover alumni and the Career Center help Scholars prepare for interviews. Learning basic interviewing skills including, knowing how to dress appropriately, give a good impression, and answer questions thoroughly and positively, is essential before any student graduates. Scholars also participate in Mock Interviews where they are critiqued and provided with constructive feedback.
